How To Play Lovestruck On The Computer
Dark Romance: Vampire in Love for iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac & PC! A window of Lovestruck Choose Your Romance on the Play Store or the app store will. Feb 4, 2019 - Otome apps usually have one thing in common; the freemium play. The American app from Voltage USA, Lovestruck, is entirely based on the.
I downloaded this app just a few days ago after seeing a post here about the new title Starship Promise, a sci-fi otome. The app itself is free, and it’s free to play with in app purchases. When you open it, you’re greeted by a collection of otome organized according to categories such as ‘Newest Releases,’ ‘All Series,’ and ‘Featured Love Interests.’ What I found convenient since it would be easy to be overwhelmed by the numerous options is that you can favorite characters and series, which adds them to a specific category labeled ‘My Favorites’ right at the top of the home screen. You don’t even have to go through menu after menu to favorite a series or character - just hit the star in the top right corner of the associated artwork. Once you’ve selected a series, you’re taken to a new screen featuring the title, series artwork, a brief description of the story’s premise, genre, number of seasons available, and number of romantic interests. All your vital info, right there at the top.
Below that is a section labeled ‘Your Romantic Interests’ with a pretty CG, name, and descriptor for each option. This setup is clean and efficient, and I really only have one (very minor) complaint about these menus. You have to read the (free) prologue before you can read the description for each character/their route.
If this isn’t the case, and I’m just missing the way you do that, please let me know. Regardless, this one tiny drawback doesn’t affect you by much more than having to spend a few minutes (and no tickets) reading the prologue without knowing if you’re more interested in one of these characters than you are in one in another series. As I said before, the app itself is free and so far as I know, so is every series and route inside. You can play this as much as you want without paying anything so long as you’re patient.
Tickets recharge every three or so hours? I’m not sure on the exact time, but when you’re going about your day (or playing on two separate devices like me, cough), it really doesn’t seem like too much of a wait. You can progress through the stories quickly if you stay on top of it, but you have to manage your resources and time pretty well if you want to go fast because you can only keep two story tickets in the bank at a time. This seems a little disappointing considering the standard otome game ticket bank seems to be five, but considering the sheer volume of content available here for free, I can’t bring myself to complain much. I haven’t been playing long enough to give a good evaluation of the frequency of new content, but so far it looks like updates come regularly!
The banner at the top of the home screen scrolls through promotions, featured series, and a release schedule. If you tap on the release schedule, it tells you what episodes you can expect to be released for what characters in the weeks to come. It looks like Tuesdays and Thursdays are update days, with about three new episodes coming out for each character. How long can they keep up with this? I don’t know, but I’m optimistic! Once you’ve started a character’s route, it plays much like any given otome.
You name your MC and tap to read, making a couple choices per episode. Here’s one of my favorite things about the way Lovestruck runs - there are no avatar missions, greeting quotas, or skill points.
In short, no gimmicks. You wait for your tickets to recharge and simply enjoy a good story. I love that because even though some of my favorite games include those sorts of things that I don’t mind participating in, it can get downright exhausting to juggle all that for multiple games. There are ‘paid’ choices you can make spread periodically through the story.
These cost an in-game currency I’m just going to call hearts. When I first encountered one, I thought the hearts at the top showing my balance was like a chemistry rating, and you had to have achieved a certain amount of chemistry in order to choose the option labeled with a hearts cost. I only figured that out too late, of course, when my balance decreased and now I can’t afford to select any other hearts choices.
(The sad thing is I don’t even remember what the choice was or what happened because of it!) You start with 30, and the only way to get more hearts is either to buy them or win them in the daily login random draw game. That leads me to an element that may concern some players who want ultimate choice-making power. There is no chemistry rating, which means there aren’t, to my knowledge, different endings based on how well your choices matched up with whoever you’re wooing. There aren’t normal endings, happy endings, and super happy endings to let you know how well you played it out.
This is a double-edged sword in otome because some people really want their happy ending (or not) to depend on their ability to read into what will increase the chemistry between the MC and the romantic interest. However, I urge you not to write this off just for that.
You still get to read a fun story and fall in love with fictional characters, right? And in a certain sense, it takes the pressure off. You don’t have to risk getting a gut wrenching ending after hours of waiting for tickets and reading and getting to know all the characters. You can make whatever choice you want and plot milestones will remain in place.
Another reason for the lack of multiple endings, in my opinion, is probably so you can be smoothly funneled from one season to the next as the multiple seasons seem to be continuations of the story rather than a whole new scenario. (At least in the one series I’ve completed S1 and moved to S2 in.)So what effect do your choices have? I confess I’m not entirely sure how much of the story changes according to each choice since I haven’t replayed a route yet. The differences, I think, lie in how people respond to you. Some love interests may appreciate a playful jab aimed at their friend they bicker with, or some may appreciate your astute observations and wisdom.
Others may like to see you take things seriously or with roguish nonchalance. You can make mistakes, and they may admonish you for being silly. You also get to direct conversation as you get to know them, finding out what you want to know, pressing to learn the details you find most important, or teasing them in just the right way to make them blush.
And you get to personalize your MC a little bit through your choices - play her tough, snarky, or sweet. Or mix it up according to the situation! So what about those hearts choices? I really don’t know about this one.
I can only assume they lead you to more romantic scenes than the other options, but I haven’t actually seen the outcome myself. Don’t worry, you can still get your guy without buying hearts, and there will still be cuteness along the way. It also appears that your choices will potentially unlock photos in your album, though I don’t know how many (if any) depend on spending hearts. If you happen to know about the hearts choices, please let me know in the comments! Each story has its own individual MC with a unique design - and eyes! I don’t really have a problem with the typical otome MC with the long brown hair with bangs that are always covering her eyes (or she’s just not facing the camera), but I love when the MC is fully rendered and feels like a complete character.
Lovestruck delivers in this aspect, no reservations. Each MC even has a selection of five or so facial expressions and costume changes like the other characters because, like them, she’s on screen all the time! You can name your MC in each story (perhaps each route?) at the same time and change it later if you wish. Oh, did I mention you can play multiple stories at once?
On my phone, I’m currently playing Starship Promise (Orion’s Season 1) and Love & Legends (August Season 2) in tandem. On a separate device, I’m playing Saerys’ route in Love & Legends, so I can tell you that the plot to the story actually changes according to which suitor you pick. Though many story elements are the same as the overall premise is shared, it isn’t the same story with different details. I can’t give examples of major plot points that differ between routes without major spoilers, but trust me when I say it’s not just the way your relationship develops that differs.
This has to be one of my favorite surprises so far about the game. The characters are - literally and figuratively - colorful folks. I’m much further into Love & Legends than I am Starship Promise, so I can really only say much about the L&L cast. And what I’ll say is that I love them. This isn’t Pulitzer winning literature, but I have thoroughly enjoyed them (and the plot) nonetheless. They’re delightful, and they make me laugh!
I couldn’t really ask for more from the cast of an otome. Each character seems to have multiple dimensions and endearing personalities, despite (or perhaps due to) what you may think of their flaws or quirks. Another thing I’ve found growing on me since downloading Lovestruck is the art style. After becoming accustomed to the Japanese style art in most other otome, I wasn’t a huge fan of the more westernized style Lovestruck had. Now I don’t have any real complaints about it. The character designs are colorful and detailed, and so are the backgrounds. When all’s said and done, I recommend for any otome fan, new to the genre or old hand, to download Lovestruck. It’s free, and it’s gimmick-free.
If nothing else, it’s perfect for filling in time you spend waiting on tickets or checkpoints on other games. Don’t get so caught up in the idea of elegantly written, earthshatteringly good otome that you miss an easy opportunity for some light fun. Download it and find whatever story and character suits you! Currently they have games centered around themes such as outer space, Greek mythology, high fantasy, the roaring 20’s, modern day gangsters, and deserted island survival! Thanks for reading this long (and hopefully helpful!) review. I hope to see you at another of my posts or in the comments! Keep an eye out for route reviews for Love & Legends and Starship Promise in the future. Happy gaming everybody.

I know Reiner's the dad friend of the crew, so I just didn't know what angle they'd take for the storytelling. I'll have to give him a shot. Saerys is such a grumpy cutie - he really cracks me up.
I absolutely LOVE Speakeasy Tonight. Cliff is my absolute favorite (one of my top otome guys ever, to be quite honest) because of how unbelievably sweet he is. I've played his route and epilogue twice over the last couple days I loved it so much.

The setting and storylines are lots of fun and exciting with all that mobster action. I've also played Vince's route, and I enjoyed it as well. They're very different characters with very different types of MCs, so it's easy to enjoy both stories without feeling like you're recycling.
